Ice fishing

For almost half of the year our lake is covered by a thick layer of ice. But that doesn’t mean that one can’t try one’s luck fishing! On the contrary: on the frozen lake good fishing spots are easily accessible on foot or by ski. We simply pack out gear, some snacks and a thermos in a sled, put on some warm clothes and are ready for the adventure!

Even in winter one can catch trout and grayling although, more often, we get pike and perch. Every once in while we even catch burbot.

After walking or skiing to our fishing spot we begin by drilling a few holes in the ice. Now we try one hole after the other, actively jigging. In the ”unfished” holes we place different setups, baited with small fish. That way we can even catch fish while taking a break at the campfire.

Sustainable management of our natural resources is important to us. That is why we release many of the caught fish – b that does not mean that you can not enjoy fresh fish. Harvesting and eatingsome of the fish we have caught is a part of our natural lifestyle.
