Lakeside Loghouse – who are we?

Lakeside Loghouse is a family business. Our little farm lies directly on the shore of Lake Alsensjön, which stretches for nearly 20 km in the Swedish province of Jämtland. We share this place with three sled dogs, two cats and a bunch of chickens. Even if our dogs rarely bark, the rooster loves to make its presence known! Together with the animals our kids make sure that the farm always feels lively.

The log house is located at the edge of our farm, near the lake. Coming home from a vacation here, you will probably have memories of 70% northern Swedish wilderness and 30% farm holiday!

Stefan

Stefan is the guide on our tours. He was born and raised in Germany. From a young age he spent a lot of time immersed in nature. His love for fishing started at the age of four and, as the boy grew, so did his adventures. After his university degree and a short detour over Siberia, Stefan settled in Canada’s Yukon Territory. For many years he worked as a guide and organizer for dog sled adventures as well as canoe and hiking tours, and he also worked as a photographer.

As the father of a family now Sweden is Stefan’s home and the base for new adventures.

Sandra…

Sandra too was born and raised in Germany. She became a speech therapist and has a degree in psychology. Beside her work as a psychologist she is now in in charge of our large vegetable garden.

Even if we are not entirely self sufficient, we grow a lot of our vegetables in this garden and our greenhouse. Additionally Stefan hunts in the forest that belongs to our farm. The fish we eat naturally swam in ”our” lake, before we caught them.

As a family we spend a lot of time outside, in the garden, on the lake, cutting firewood, skiing or hiking in the ”fjäll”.
